Why ‘Sensitive Rebels’?

When I tried to come up with a name for my website, I initially chose a truly nonconformist name. It didn’t make the cut (it was also way too long), but I now find Sensitive Rebels to be a very fitting name for me and for what I stand for.

I believe that everyone can feel like a Sensitive Rebel at some point in their life.

You stood up for yourself? – Sensitive Rebel. Self-efficacy? – Sensitive Rebel. Self-care? – Sensitive Rebel. Setting stronger boundaries? – Sensitive Rebel. That’s more or less how I see it.

Sensitive Rebels is for everyone who feels misunderstood. We are many. Underdogs, Misfits, People Who Have Been Told They Are Too Much, critical thinkers, highly sensitive people, people who feel deeply, people with wounded <3 hearts.

Sensitive Rebels is for people who perceive a lot, experience things intensely, notice subtle nuances, see connections, and sometimes engage with their environment more deeply than they would like to. Sensitivity can be a great resource, but it can also become exhausting when you have learned not to trust your own perception or to adapt yourself to fit in. I know this very well myself.

For me, a Sensitive Rebel is someone who stands up for themselves, their (mental) health, and their dignity against all odds. A rebel, to me, is someone who keeps getting back up despite all the times they’ve been knocked down; someone who learns to treat themselves with more kindness, to embrace their inner shadows, and to become more resilient. A Sensitive Rebel is also someone who dares to look – in a trauma-sensitive way – at the places that hurt, the places where something feels uncomfortable or unsettled.

Sensitive Rebels stands for people who are not willing to permanently force themselves into a shape that doesn’t fit them and who are not always satisfied with the obvious. It is for you if you have ever been told that you are too much, too sensitive, too complicated, or simply different. <3

It means developing the courage to take your own ideas, needs, and boundaries seriously. To return to yourself and to your inner essence – or to be able to feel more deeply into it.

Sensitivity and rebellion/nonconformity do not have to be opposites. Quite the contrary. Those who perceive a lot, question a lot, and experience things intensely may also notice particularly clearly when something no longer feels right.

Sensitive Rebels therefore stands for less self-abandonment and more self-contact.
